Cafe Hopping

I love a good coffee shop. Did you know that the first coffee shops in Europe didn’t sell coffee? They were public spaces for people to get together to read papers and share information. Today? They are so apart of the everyday fabric, that it is hard to imagine life without them. I personally love to go for homework, tea, and a hang out spot with friends. Here are some of my go-to cafes in Asheville.

  • Odd’s Cafe: I’m just going to start off with my favorite. Between their ‘matchu peachu’ smoothies (matcha and peach— who would have thought) and delicious almond cake, this spot is super cozy. Find it here.

  • Fractals Coffee: Grilled cheese bagel sandwiches? Rosemary Lattes? Sign me up. Located in West Asheville, it’s impossible to miss as it is painted bright colors. Find it here.

  • While we are still in West Asheville, we might as well visit Simple. A quaint blue-painted building, with everything from delicious juices and smoothies (with names like ‘The Hemingway’), to famous dishes like the vegan crunch-wrap supreme’ and their vegan banh mi. Oh, and they are always filled with plants. Find it here.

  • Trade & Lore: I had plum tea here for the first time, and my life has never been the same. They host awesome concerts and poetry slams as well! Check them out downtown and here. (they also have a new Charlotte location)

  • Summit Coffee Asheville: housed in the River Arts District this coffee shop is one of my favorites simply because it’s pretty to look at. Their iced matcha lattes are pretty good too. Check them out here.

  • Ultra CoffeeBar: If Summit is busy, while you're in the area take the minute drive to Ultra instead. Choose from bagel spreads, their delicious Thai wraps (and other sandwiches), or if you’re bold the Rick James. Check them out here.

  • BattleCat Cafe Bar: the coziest place I ever did see. They are also eco friendly which is a plus! Check them out here.

  • HighFive Coffee: Whether you’re a tourist or a local you have heard of this spot! And for good reason. Whether it’s their matcha limeade (have you caught on to a theme yet?) or the fact that they have three locations (Woodfin, downtown, Broadway)- you can’t know Asheville and not know HighFive. Find them here.

  • Izzy’s Coffee Den/House: Catch the smaller one downtown and a bigger option on Haywood. Whichever the location, the quality is always superb. Their hot chocolates are always my go-to. Find them here.

  • Dobra Tea: A tea lover’s dream. Check them out in West or downtown. Try their light lunch and snack options, and take your time as you flip through a book full of tea. If things get too overwhelming, their daily special menu is a winner every time. Check them out here.

  • The Rhu: This place looks small, but is filled with so much. Stop by for a cruffin or a homemade loaf. There is love baked into every bite. Located downtown, you can find them here.

  • Liberty House Cafe: Matcha strawberry iced drinks, smoked campfire latte’s (pictured above)- I love Liberty for their seasonal beverages. They never seem to disappoint. Check them out here.

So many more that I could add but I’ll stop for now and do a part two! I didn’t even mention OWL :(
