My Fall Reading List

I have fallen in love with reading through the tones of the seasons. Fall and Winter are my favorites— between the tea and the sweaters, there is just something about the colder months that ironically make me feel warm inside. As nature around me shifts and dies and changes, this time of the year becomes perfect for internal growth. So let the growing pains commence with reads that will stretch your mind, body, and soul:

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt:
We tend to think of life as one big beautiful adventure, but what if it was one big tragedy? It's an 800 page read sure to last you the entire season. You will get to know a boy named Theo through decades of his life, and in return, know more about yourself.⁣

The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan: this book will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about food— not just the ethics, and the politics— but also what is basic: pleasure, culture, tradition, health, legislation, and much more. ⁣

Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat Zinn: in a society that makes us feel like we have to constantly be moving, have you ever thought about standing still? the chapters are short and patient, with a refreshing take on mindfulness and its benefits.⁣

Autumn by Ali Smith: the first in a seasonal quartet, that attempts to answer the question, ‘what does harvest mean in a world that is growing ever more bordered and exclusive?'⁣

Butterfield 8 by John O’Hara: I couldn't pass up adding a classic— this is a glossy melodrama that uncovers the unspoken truth of a society still reeling from the Great Depression. American fiction at its best.

happy fall reading!⁣
