My Best Hiking Guide
Living in Western NC is a blessing— I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains. Here is a list of my go-to hiking spots that I love sharing with others, and that are super scenic. Check these out if you haven’t already!
Craggy Pinnacle: this is one of my favorite spots for a quick sunset-watching getaway. It’s not tough to walk at all and is always fun with friends.
Bearwallow: if you are lucky, once you reach the top you might spot some cows roaming. It’s also a wonderful spot for sunset watching.
Catawba Falls: This one can be a little crowded, as it is popular for tourists and quite easy to accomplish, but the waterfall at the top is soo worth it.
Linville Falls: Quite another easy trail, but the waterfalls and rivers are super scenic and it’s a close drive to the caves!
Black Balsam Knob: This spot is perfect, not quite easy- but not difficult, and is (in my opinion) prettier in the fall/winter.
Looking Glass Falls and Trailhead: A Western N.C classic, everyone should visit at least once.
Art Loeb: a bit tougher on the hiking scale but worth it if you bring friends and spend a night.
Upper Log: Another classic, the views are incredible.
Graveyard Fields: Another classic hike, prettiest in the fall.
Max Patch: Everyone and their mother has hiked Max Patch- the hike is easy, and once you get to the bald top you will have fun catching the sunset or watching it rise. Plus it is close to the cutest small town that is Hot Springs. Depending on when you go, you might bump into a lot of App trail hikers.
Roan Mountain: not quite N.C, but Tennessee is always worth it, and it is quite possibly the prettiest mountain I have seen in my lifetime (or at least high on the list).
Douglass Falls: so underhyped, and maybe because not enough people know about it, but perfect for a Sunday morning, and prettiest after it rains!
there are many more, but here is a starting point! happy hiking!
