The Big 2-0
I am officially 20 years young— a whole two decades. I haven’t figured out how I feel, but I have figured out what I have learned thus far, so here is a list: 20 things I have learned at 20.
I am love. I should act accordingly. Whatever I do, say, speak, etc….it should all be done with love as my motivator.
I can get up and move. I am not a tree tied to roots. Whether I am reading a book, in a relationship, or taking a class…..I can stop when things don’t feel right and that’s okay.
Don’t overthink it.
Good things don’t come to those who stand by and idly wait. Work for the good you want.
Dreaming isn’t living.
Love yourself. Don’t wait on the prince or the savior or the place or the thing to save you or change you.
Breathe.
People can’t read your thoughts— if you are hurt, say it out loud.
Do more things by yourself. Go on a hike, a concert, see a movie….with your own company.
Wear the pretty dress, eat on the fancy plate wear, and spend too much on skincare— you don’t need a rhyme or reason to make yourself happy, just do them.
When you think about someone, reach out to them.
Move your body.
Un-clench your jaw.
Smile at yourself more often.
Learn how to budget and understand finances!
Forgive yourself for your mistakes.
The Earth is your mother. Eat close to her, protect her, and live an imperfect yet sustainable life.
Be honest with yourself. Let yourself feel all the emotions. Cry more, laugh more, etc.
Write something down every day.
You don’t have to be perfect. Just be you. And you are so young. Go easy on yourself.
